Programs for ipaq 214

If that's the case the prognosis is not good. Please do get back with any further information that might help in diagnosing your problem, or further questions you might have. DrAT , Oct 22, Hi,thanks for the response. I have done a hard reset on the device so many times and that is because the Esword app crashes after installation and it is completely wiped off the device memory.

Now though when I download it it comes up with a message saying it can't be downloaded on the device despite loads of memory space. At times the shortcuts don't work and they keep coming up with a message, so I have to do a soft reset.

When I do the soft reset , i have to align the screen again and I also have to go to the menu to insert my frequently used program for easy access. I have to keep doing this because after using for a while , say half day , something stops responding so I have to do a soft reset if more serious then a hard reset. A rom has the OS and the hardware drivers and device manufacturer software in it.

Not to mention digital locks to prevent you from installing the incorrect ROM on your Device. You would have to find a cooked ROM that has Ipaq drivers in it and the instruction on how to bypass the digital locks '. Logun , Oct 22, It's good news, in a way, if e-Sword is the only program causing trouble.

I have had iPAQs fail and the early symptoms were similar. Are you trying to install e-Sword from the same PC you used when it worked?

From what I can see, it was discontinued a while ago. My guess is that e-Sword doesn't use a CAB file. It's more complicated if the installation copies files over directly but I think this is how e-Sword works. Problems can occur when an attempt is made to copy files that are in use. This would account for the memory error you have seen. The file can't be copied so it is assumed that there is not enough memory. This can happen with CAB installations too but the installer usually just asks you to reset when it has finished.

Stop anything that runs at startup from starting. Some programs might have a setting that does this. Disable any today plugins. Move them somewhere else temporarily. Reboot and then try to install the software. Check that files are copied properly from your PC to the iPAQ, and check that your documents folder is synchronized correctly.

If the installer was designed to use an older version of WMDC, it might not work anyway. When I get a chance, I'll check out the installation myself. I don't have a PC to hand right now. My advice on changing your ROM is 'don't'. I doubt it will address your current problem. I won't make any recommendations because I know little about ROM cooking and flashing.

The installation is actually quite straightforward if you follow the instructions to the letter. If you do try one out, follow the instructions on making a backup of your existing ROM. Be sure of the steps involved. More and more things got built in, more memory, better screens.
